Healing Crystals- An Introduction

I can say I am a curious person who wants to constantly explore the world surrounding them. However, I always try to see beyond the obvious and read between the lines. One of my various interests (I could even call it an obsession), as the title suggests, is healing crystals and gem rocks. I’ve always been interested in mineral stones and have visited a lot of natural-history museums, when I was little, to learn more about them (the Internet was a luxury back then). However, just recently maybe a year or so ago, I got a really big interest in healing crystals’ qualities and the way each stone influences us.

images

A year ago a friend of mine gave me a Citrine crystal as a gift as I was in a difficult period of my life. So she decided the stone might help me as it attracts luck and clears off the negative energy. What you need to do is simply put it in the wealth corner of your room (the furthest right from the door) and this way increase its energy. Citrine is a solar plexus chakra (the second chakra) stone and is used to increase, magnify and clarify personal power and energy. That is why it is also called the ‘success stone’. As you can imagine, it brought me luck and soon after I got it, my problems started fading away.

download

The thing with crystal stones is that you have to connect with them and work with them. If you have seen the movie Avatar, there’s a scene where the main character- Jake’s avatar is learning to fly. He has to choose a banshee and tame him by connecting through the neural interface. It is the same principle with a healing crystal (not as dangerous of course). Once you get your crystal, you have to clean it physically first (wash it in a running water) and after that spiritually (keep it overnight in a bowl of water and sea salt) and then you have to create a bond with it (hold it in your hand and just concentrate) and finally charge it (leave it under sun or moon light for a few hours). Now it’s ready for use. A very important thing you should remember is your healing crystal is yours and yours alone and you should not lend it to other people.

These are the main things you should know about healing crystals. In a series of blog posts, I’ll be writing about different stones and elaborating on their qualities, how and when to use them. Feel free to ask questions or leave suggestions in the comments section.

Natural Phenomenons: Pink Lake Hillier

No, you’re not dreaming, don’t bother to rub your eyes, this lake really is pink!

Pink Lake Hillier, Australia

Pink Lake Hillier, Australia

Lake Hillier is a lake on Middle Island, the larger of the islands that form the Recherche Archipelago in Western Australia. The water is naturally a bubblegum pink colour and retains the pink hue when taken from the lake and put in containers.

The water doesn't change its colour

Hillier Lake is the only vividly pink lake you will find in the world.

Beautiful Hillier Lake, Australia

The colour is permanent and never changes. Its startling colour remains a mystery and while scientists have proven it’s not due to the presence of algae, unlike the other salt lakes down under, they still can’t explain why it’s pink.

The lake is about 600 meters long and is surrounded by a rim of sand and a dense woodland of paperbark and eucalyptus trees. A narrow strip of sand dunes covered by vegetation separates it to the north from the Southern Ocean.

Amazing Lake Hillier

Nature is amazing beyond our concept of it. Its creations are divine and we, as part of these creations, must respect Nature and take care for Her as we would for our mother.

The 13th Sign- Truth or Just Another Conspiracy

I read an article yesterday about the 13th zodiac sign- Ophiuchus. I admit it was an interesting piece of content which, however, did not really convince me it changes anything no matter whether it is existing or not. I’ll give you a short resume of what I’ve read in the article so that you can decide for yourselves.

Engraving by Sir James Thornhill

According to Greek mythology Ophiuchus also known as Asclepius, was the son of Apollo. He was a healer who possessed the gift to bring the dead back to life. However, Hades (Pluto) didn’t like that and convinced his brother Zeus (Jupiter) to kill Apollo’s son with a lightning bolt. As he was half-god, after his death he was placed as a constellation given the name Ophiuchus/Serpentarius (The Serpent Holder). According to Egyptian mythology, such man really existed and his name was Imhotep and he brought the art of healing to mankind. The Biblical equivalent of Asclepius/Imhotep was Joseph, son of Jacob who possessed the same attributes of healing.

zodiac

Outside of mythology, it is said the Sun spends 19 days of the year in the Ophiuchus constellation which is located between Scorpio and Sagittarius. Moreover, before introducing the Gregorian calendar, the years used to be divided into 13 months with 28 days each. If we would stick to this calendar instead, the signs would be as follows:

Aries– 19th April- 13th May

Taurus– 14th May- 19th June

Gemini– 20th June- 20th July

Cancer– 21st July- 9th August

Leo– 10th August- 15th September

Virgo– 16th September- 30th October

Libra– 31st October- 22nd November

Scorpio– 23rd November- 29th November

Ophiuchus– 30th November- 17th December

Sagittarius– 18th December- 18th January

Capricorn– 19th January- 15th February

Aquarius– 16th February- 11 March

Pisces– 12th March- 18th April

I had a discussion with a friend of mine who’s into Astrology, regarding the 13th sign. A curious thing is the sign of Scorpio is really a strange sign. There is a huge difference between the October Scorpios and the November Scorpios. Moreover, they are separated in black and white Scorpios. In terms of the other signs, all 12 of them are separated in decans, which signifies that people born under the same sign do not possess the same qualities.

imageeee

The sign of Ophiuchus might exist and influence our lives together with the other 12 signs, or it could be just a myth. No matter what though, the stories and mythologies around it are very curious and open our vision for the unknown.

Winter Is Coming- One Of The Best Winter Places In The World

Since winter is knocking on the door, I decided to share with you my love for one of the most beautiful winter places in the world- Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia.

316494_450663774980374_904955476_n

Lake Baikal is the world’s deepest and oldest (20 to 25 million years) existing freshwater lake. Called “the sacred sea” by locals, Lake Baikal, also known as the “pearl of Siberia”, is located in the south part of the Russian region of Siberia between the Irkutsk Oblast to the northwest and the Buryat Republic to the Southwest. In midwinter, the lake  is a roughly 12,200-square-mile crystal ice rink. A curious thing about Lake Baikal is about two-thirds of the estimated 1,500 animal species living in and around it are found nowhere else on Earth. The best known resident is the nerpa, the world’s only exclusively freshwater seal.

25 Of The Best Game of Thrones Quotes

The A Song of Ice and Fire book series is one of my favourite and I believe it is favourite to many other people around the world too. Its popularity is partly a result of the super successful TV show Game of Thrones. I have to admit I developed an interest in the books after I watched the series. Now that Season 7 has finished, and The Winds of Winter is rumoured to be released in 2018, I thought it would be great to have a little recap with 20 of the best quotes from both the books and the show. Which one is your favourite?

Memoirs Of A Geisha- A Beautiful Story About The Last Geishas

“She paints her face to hide her face. Her eyes are deep water. It is not for Geisha to want. It is not for geisha to feel. Geisha is an artist of the floating world. She dances, she sings. She entertains you, whatever you want. The rest is shadows, the rest is secret.memoirs-of-a-geisha-504736e9c647a

I have seen the Memoirs of a Geisha several times. It is one of those movies that leave you breathless, in a deeply philosophical state of mind. I love beautiful things and this is a beautiful movie. The actors, the costumes, the narrative, the story in general. It contains a lot of everything- love, loyalty, strength, wisdom, pain…

изтеглен файлThe movie shows the transformation of the fisher’s daughter Chio into the legendary geisha Sayuri- a path full of pain and sacrifices, of love and duty. As a young girl, Chio is sold by her father to a geisha house and is separated from her sister who’s sold to another okiya in Hanamachi. The little Chio is incredibly beautiful since an early age, having the rare for a Japanese girl blue eyes. Her features and qualities determine her a very successful nenki (career as a geisha). However, this doesn’t stay unnoticed by one of the most popular geishas in Hanamachi who happens to live in the same okiya as Chio- Hatsumomo. She sees in the little girl a serious competitor and does all her best to stop her from becoming a geisha. But when Chio is 16 another legendary geisha- Mameha- takes her under her wing and helps her to transform from the little, frightened girl Chio into the beautiful and most desired geisha in Hanamachi, Sayuri. However, Sayuri does something that is absolutely forbidden for geishas- falls in love…

Memoirs-of-a-Geisha-memoirs-of-a-geisha-19182074-800-574

What I love about the Memoirs of a Geisha is the wisdom it teaches. The narrative is so beautifully written, it makes you feel the emotions of the characters as your own. The most emotional moment for me was when Chio lost everything and realised the only home she had was this same okiya she was desperately trying to escape. The moment of pain is so beautifully and realistically recreated that you just can’t stay indifferent to it. “At the temple, there is a poem called “Loss” carved into the stone. It has three words, but the poet has scratched them out. You cannot read loss, only feel it.”

Fate is something many people deny. We like to think we have control over everything, especially over our very lives. However, no one can escape their fate. Whatever we do we always go towards it, one way or another…

“If you keep your destiny in mind, every moment in life becomes an opportunity for moving closer to it.”

The 25th Frame- Fact or Fiction

We live in a modern world where we enjoy the freedom of choice- choosing our religion, the type of music we are listening to, the movies and TV shows we are watching, the food we eat, and so on. But do we really have that freedom or we just think we do?

index

The truth is we are manipulated for most of the decisions we take in our lives. We are manipulated by politicians to elect them, by companies to buy their products, by advertisers and marketeers who sell us these products, etc. Even the decision of purchasing the toothpaste we normally do is a result of manipulation.

1436255_300One of the most brilliant and at the same time easiest methods of mass manipulation is the “25th frame effect“. The human eye, while watching a video, can perceive 24 frames per second. However, if a 25th frame is used it bypasses the mind and the information it contains goes directly to the subconscious. This information has not been seen by the person but has been saved by the brain and it comes out of the mind at some point as a hang-up or an idea. A similar concept is used in the movie Inception. However, the ideas there are installed into the subconscious through dreams. The effect of the 25th frame is similar to the effect of hypnosis. A wide number of countries have made its use illegal. Some psychologists even argue that a labile person could be induced to commit a murder.

The founder of the 25th frame is the American businessman James Waikerie. In 1957 he came up with the idea of a very interesting experiment. While showing movies in a New Jersey cinema, an additional projector was added, projecting extra frames every second, which contained two hidden advertising messages: “Drink Coca Cola” and “Eat popcorn“. The results after the experiment showed that the consumption of Coca Cola and popcorn in the cinema increased by 17%. Waikerie patented his invention and this brought him $38 million but suddenly in 1974, he gave up on his rights over it, without giving a concrete explanation.
reel
Does the 25th frame really violate our right of free will or is it just another conspiracy theory? Some say the first to use its magic for mass hypnosis was Hitler himself. Some say it is all a myth and the “25th frame effect” does not exist. Where is the truth? Somewhere in between maybe. It’s for you to decide…

We all have two lives. The second begins when you realize you only have one

I’m not too much into celebrities. I’m not one of those people who’d scream and jump and behave unnaturally when they see a famous person. I really don’t see what the fuss is about. They are people like us and are no more special than any of us. Their job requires them to be popular and be in the public eye. Especially people of art- actors and musicians mainly- are exposed before their public most of their time. It is very stressful and very responsible to be famous. Famous people are role models whether they want it or not. Nowadays there’s this trend among young “celebrities” to provoke the public morally, mocking and devaluating principles, demonstrating ignorance about things that really matter etc. I don’t like the celebrity culture the way it is nowadays. For me, celebrity is a dirty word and I’m trying not to call the famous people I really like celebrities because they are not. They are role models who inspire their public to share their passion for what they do and to recognise the important things in life.

This post which is under the section “Inspiring people” is dedicated to Tom Hiddleston. Most of you would know him as Loki- Thor’s brother from the Thor movies. However, he’s much more than that. What I love about him is the fact that he’s truly inspiring. I confess I noticed him in Thor and there was something about his performance I really liked and found very unique. We all know the Thor movies and Marvel movies, in general, don’t possess any special film qualities. They have rich effects and are beautifully made, the costumes are bright and eye-pleasing, the make-up is amazing and the action takes place at marvellous places such as Asgard. In one word, they are made to entertain the public, the comics fans most of all, but would not qualify for an Oscar nomination, if you know what I mean. In such movie, it is very difficult for a serious actor to shine with brilliant acting because as I said it’s all about the effects. However, Tom Hiddleston did it. He created such an extraordinary character out of his Loki that you just cannot fail to notice his acting skills.

loki-user-feature

After watching Thor, I took an interest in Tom Hiddleston and watched some of his other movies and interviews he gave for a number of different TV shows (my favourite is the one for Popcorn Taxi). What shocked me was his passion for the things he loves, which are not common at all, especially among his fans (regarding their age)-Shakespeare, Ancient Greek literature, languages, impressions etc. The way he talks about his passions is so incredibly communicable that at one point you just realise his passions have become your passions too. For instance, I started reading Shakespeare all over again. I’ve read some of his most popular plays when I was at school but I only did it because it was compulsory. Now I do it because I was motivated and inspired to.

32592_155712784583904_1134775385_nAnother thing I love about Tom Hiddleston is the fact he’s so wise beyond his age. In all of the interviews I’ve watched, he says something that is truly inspiring and motivational. Actually, when I’m depressed I tend to watch his interviews because the way he speaks cheers me up and what he says reaches me on a very deep level. I read a recent post by Martha Sorren that “not only are his words incredibly thoughtful and accurate, but they’re often phrased so elegantly that they seem to have been ripped from the stanzas of a particularly beautiful poem“. I think this is the best way to describe his talent for motivational speech. The way he speaks and the meaning of what he says has truly magical effect on people.

We live in a world full of tragedies and pain. But on the other hand, this same world is full of beauty and happiness. The way we look at it determines how we are going to live it. There will always be someone who will let you down and will try to stop you from achieving your dreams. But it’s entirely up to you to decide who to follow- the one who tells you “you can” or the one convincing you you can’t. Choose your role models wisely!

You never know what’s around the corner. It could be everything or it could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other and then one day you look back and you’ve climbed a mountain.

One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to find them. One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them

I have to admit I haven’t read The Lord of the Rings but I have seen the movies over 100 times! I know I will read it one day but the films are touching me so hard every time I watch them that I just cannot risk ruining this effect (not that it is possible). I used to love Game of Thrones, the TV show, and I was refusing to start reading the books because I knew it wouldn’t have had the same effect on me anymore. However, I couldn’t resist the temptation any longer and started reading and as expected, I don’t feel the same way when I’m watching it now. I still love it, but I love the books more. With The Lord of the Rings, I think such thing cannot happen. This is my favourite movie-trilogy ever and nothing will replace it. It is amazing how its effect on me hasn’t changed over the years. Every time I’m watching the movies, I find something new I’ve failed to see the previous time I’ve watched them. There is some kind of special magic in this trilogy and a very big amount of wisdom.

10687214_708998559181075_3869533651326300902_n

What is so special about LOTR is the way it’s been made. With so much passion and dedication. It is a huge project, planned for many years and one can see it from a first sight. The actors are brilliant, the effects are amazing, the music is divine, the costumes are magnificent etc. The Lord of the Rings is a classic story about good and bad but told in such a way that it makes it anything but commercial. The way it shows how good turns into evil and evil turns into good is absolutely brilliant- the border between the two is so blurred.

th

Gollum

Let’s take a classic example- Gollum. He’s been a normal hobbit with a normal life, nothing extraordinary. However, when the Ring- the source of evil- comes to him, he cannot resist its power. The Ring corrupts Gollum’s heart and makes a pity creature out of him- treacherous, hateful and ruthless. But at the same time, he remains Smeagol as well- desperately seeking protection, a saviour, a friend. He finds all this in Frodo- the Ring-bearer. Just like Smeagol/Gollum, Frodo had a normal life, all of which he spent in the Shire. For me, the Shire symbolises simplicity, beauty and pure happiness, especially in the movies. The cute, little houses, the green fields, the harmony in which the hobbits live. Frodo has to leave all this and go on a mission which may cost him his life. This probability is enough to kill his will. On the other hand, the Ring is trying to corrupt him as well and to take power over him. However, unlike Gollum, Frodo shows extraordinary fortitude and strong will, which helps him oppose to the power of the Ring. As Galadriel says: “Even the smallest person can change the course of the future“.

lord-of-the-rings-poster

My point is, the transformation of good into evil and of evil into good is very interesting to see as it actually shows how life is. No one is entirely good or bad- not even the wise elves or Gandalf, not even Aragorn or Legolas or Gimli, not even Saruman and Sauron. Both good and bad live inside us, but it is our choice to follow one or the other. The Lord of the Rings is a really good metaphor for real life; an epic story about the war between good and bad. However, the real war is inside us and we fight it every single day with the choices we make. We all have one mighty “Ring” within us that corrupts us, seduces us, tricks us. Whether to surrender to it or fight it, is for us to decide.
